Explore Waterworld Leisure Resort’s journey towards a greener future with over 1,200 solar panels, generating renewable energy you can monitor live below!

2025 Award Winner For  Sustainability & Environment

We’re incredibly proud to have won the Sustainability and Environment Award at the 2025 Chambers of Commerce Business Awards. This recognition celebrates the hard work we’ve put into implementing sustainable features and reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting the environment.

Solar Panel Installation completed in 2024!

We now have over 1200 solar panels on our roof at the Waterworld Leisure Resort!

Over the lifetime of this renewable energy installation we expect the benefit to the environment to be the equivalent of planting 26,500 trees or avoiding driving 2.5 million miles or taking 3,000 long-haul flights!

You can even check out how much Solar energy we’re generating at any time on our live monitor below…

Combined heat and power (CHP) unit

Waterworld has a whopping 250Kwh CHP Engine on site too! As you might imagine, an all-year-round Tropical Indoor Aqua Park requires a lot of heat! So this beauty generates electricity on site and allows us to recapture the heat from the process and feed it back into the building! We actively work with the CHPQA scheme, which is carried out on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ),

The combination of CHP and Solar means the Waterworld Leisure Resort now generates more than 80% of it’s electricity on site!

Liquid Pool covers

In October 2024, Waterworld started using Liquid Pool Covers to reduce heat loss and evaporation from our pools overnight! This is a great technology that allows Leisure Pools of all shapes and sizes, like ours, to prevent unnecessary waste of heat & pool water! In the winter months of 2024 we reduced our gas consumption by an average of 20%.

Borehole Water

We utilise ground water sources (filtered of course) to feed our showers and toilets at the WWLR – minimising our impact on local reservoirs where we can.

Recycling

You may not see it on the customer side yet, but in the back of house we’re all about recycling! We’ve worked with our waste contractor over the last year to reduce our landfill waste and separate our dry mixed recycling.
